INVENTORYING HISTORIC MONUMENTS IN POLAND - THE HISTORY, THE METHODS, THE ACHIEVMENTS: 1st SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE OF THE PROJECT
Toruń, 24–25 October 2019
We have a pleasure in inviting you to participate in the 1st scientific conference organised within the framework of the project, devoted to the history and previous outcomes of inventory works carried out in Polish territories.
The following thematic groups are provided:
• Descriptions and interpretations of memorial sites and historic monuments, artworks and their complexes till mid-19th century
• First attempts to catalogue historic monuments in Polish territories it the period of institutionalisation of archaeology and history of art as academic disciplines
• The role of the heritage protection service and amateur associations
• The complete series of topographic inventories for Silesia, Greater Poland, Pomerania, West and East Prussia compiled in the 2nd half of 19th and the 1st half of 20th century
• Topographic inventories (Katalog Zabytków Sztuki w Polsce /The Inventory of Monuments of Art in Poland))
• Card indexes and documentation of monuments – National Heritage Board of Poland (earlier The Centre for Documentation of Monuments, The National Centre for Research and Documentation of Monuments), heritage offices
• Problem inventories (typological, corpus publications)
• Cataloguing and documenting the monuments related to Polish history and culture abroad
• Novel methods and tools for scientific cataloguing the monuments and building databases.
Time limit for 1 paper is 45 minutes including presentation (30 minutes) and time for discussion; also shorter speeches – announcements shall be accepted, of total duration of 20 minutes (including discussion).
Venue: NCU Faculty of Fine Arts building, 30 Sienkiewicza Street (Tymon’s Hall, II floor).
Declarations of attendance together with abstracts of 2000 characters shall be sent to mariab@umk.pl not later than July 30th 2019; information on accepting the papers shall be sent not later than July 22nd 2019.
The speakers shall be provided with accommodation and reimbursement of travel expanses. The presented papers and – having fulfilled the editors’ and publishers’ requirements – shall be published by the NCU Scientific Publications (ranked).
